Paul M. Pecci is a realistic painter whose idealized views of local (Cape Cod) and Italian landscapes have been said to be reminiscent of the style of Camile Carot in subject matter and in color palette. His portrait and figurative paintings, particularly those collaged using paper, fabric, gold leaf and other materials are heavily influenced by the post-impressionist style of Gustav Klimt.
Born in 1953 and raised in Boston, Massachusetts , Pecci was first introduced to art at an early age through summer arts programs for children at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. He studied privately during adolescence and then as an adult through the Danforth Museum School of Art and with Boston artist, Michael Dowling. He was a founding member of the Metrowest Artists Guild in Framingham, and was also a founder and current member of Natick Artists Open Studio group.
He is a resident of Mashpee, a small town on Cape Cod. Pecci mostly enjoys his yearly travels to Italy with his wife, Eileen, from which he combines his sketches, quick paintings, his wife’s photography and his idealized memories to recreate and to share his experiences with the viewer.
Paul Pecci’s art is a pilgrimage to the inner soul. It has the ability to transport the viewer across time and space to magical worlds of experience and deepest emotions. He has the ability to grab you and bring you into his canvas and into his world. He offers the viewer an invitation that is too compelling to resist. Whether a landscape, still life or portrait - painting or collage - his paintings strike a chord of familiarity and offer the viewer an intimate feeling of shared experiences and knowing.
